The town also boasts Australia’s largest and best-preserved precinct of authentic 1920s Art Deco buildings. These stunning structures line the main streets of Innisfail and are a must-see attraction in their own right. They were built to replace the wood-and-tin structures that were demolished by a catastrophic cyclone in 1918. The Cassowary Coast Regional Council has a free app for a self-guided Art Deco tour. Search Apple Store or Google Play for “Tropical Art Deco Mobile App.”
